🐄 Animal records

Create a record for an individual animal, group, flock or hive. Open it to update identity, location, status, notes or photo. Visits, treatments, tasks and documents stay connected to the matching record.

💊 Treatments and holds

Enter the product, dose, route, date and withdrawal days exactly as directed by the label or veterinarian. BarnBuddy calculates release dates for meat, milk, eggs and honey; always verify them against professional instructions.

📷 Photos and PDFs

Allow Camera access when prompted. Attach photos to animals, treatment labels, inventory and equipment. Veterinary PDFs remain attached to the selected farm or animal record.

📅 Tasks and calendar

Add dated care, inspections, follow-ups and farm work. Overdue work is highlighted. Tap a task to edit, complete or delete it. Holds and rechecks may also create reminders.

📦 Inventory

Track medicine, feed, supplies and equipment with category, location, quantity, lot number, expiration, notes and an optional photo. Inventory is not automatically reduced when a treatment is recorded.

🩺 Care Partner sharing

1. Care Partner opens Receive Records.
2. Farmer opens Record Sync and follows the instructions shown in the installed app.
3. Farmer reviews the selected records before sending.
4. Returned updates remain proposals until the farmer reviews and accepts them.

Record Sync is not a diagnosis service.

🔐 Privacy and sign-in

No separate BarnBuddy username or password is required for local records or secure Care Partner record exchange. BarnBuddy does not sell farm records or use them for advertising.

☁️ Backup and restore

Now: records are local, so keep iCloud Backup or Android device backup enabled.

Planned: optional end-to-end encrypted backup using a private recovery key, without normal account sign-in. This page will change when it is released.

🔄 Moving to a new phone

Until Cloud Backup & Restore is released, use Apple or Android’s supported phone-transfer process before erasing the old phone. Confirm BarnBuddy and its records open correctly on the new phone first.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

• Camera unavailable: allow Camera access in phone Settings.
• Record sharing fails: update both apps and follow Record Sync on screen.
• Missing records after reinstalling: restore the phone from its device backup.
• Wrong hold: verify the treatment date and withdrawal days.
